Think a table saw is mandatory for serious woodworking? Think again. In this seminar, Vic Tesolin demonstrates how common table saw tasks can be handled using a track saw and a router. Clean rips. Accurate crosscuts. Dados, rabbets, and joinery. All without a cabinet saw dominating the shop.

This is not theory or tool worship. It is a practical, repeatable workflow built around accuracy, safety, and efficiency. Attendees will learn how to break down sheet goods, size solid wood, cut joinery, and produce furniture parts using tools that are portable, space-friendly, and far less intimidating than a traditional table saw.

Designed for small shops, shared spaces, or woodworkers who simply do not want to invest in a table saw, this seminar challenges assumptions about what tools are “required.” Participants will leave with clear methods, smarter setups, and the confidence to build more with the tools they already own.

Date: Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Location: The Wood Shed - 2932 Thompson Rd, Smithville

Seminar begins at 10:00am, so please arrive by 9:45am. The seminar will take place in the back of the main warehouse.

You will receive a folder, graph note pad, and a pencil for taking notes.

Vic will be available after the seminar for questions.

A bit about our speaker, Vic Tesolin

Vic Tesolin is a woodworker, teacher, and writer whose path to furniture making was anything but direct. After 14 years in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, he trained at Rosewood Studio under leading North American furniture makers, later staying on as an instructor and craftsman-in-residence while building commissioned work.

Vic has worked across the woodworking industry as Editor of Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement Magazine and as a Woodworking Advisor at Lee Valley Tools, where he helped develop tools and taught at shows and events worldwide.

Today, Vic runs Vic Tesolin Woodworks, a small teaching business focused on practical skill-building rather than tool collecting. He offers private, one-on-one instruction, in person and online, helping woodworkers build confidence and better results with what they already own.

He also shares his knowledge through writing, podcasts, and demonstrations. Vic writes for Fine Woodworking, co-hosts the FWW Shop Talk Live podcast, and is the author of The Minimalist Woodworker and Projects from the Minimalist Woodworker, books focused on doing quality work in small spaces with essential tools.
