Overview
Behind the Apron is a hands-on cooking workshop hosted in collaboration with Feed the Soul YEG and T.H.I.N.K. Meet-ups. The cooking workshop will be led by Luther Anthony of The Bajan Chef. This event focuses on Caribbean flavours and techniques through a practical and engaging learning experience.

🍽 Date: Friday, July 11, 2025

🕒 Time: 6-9 PM

📍 Location: The Kitchen at Stanley Milner Edmonton Public Library (Sir Winston Churchill Square Northwest, Edmonton, AB, Canada)

🎟 Tickets: $35 per person

Participants will be guided to prepare the following menu:

Bajan Macaroni Pie
Beef Ribs
Homemade Sorrel Beverage

You’ll start the evening by breaking bread with class participants in an interactive activity guided by Rochelle Ignacio, founder of Feed the Soul YEG. Participants will then move into a guided cooking session with step-by-step instruction from Chef Luther. Each dish is designed to be customizable to different preferences for spice and seasoning.

While the main course is cooking, Chef Luther will demonstrate how to make a traditional steeped Caribbean sorrel drink using hibiscus flowers and spices.

Participants will enjoy prepared sorrel with their main course while connecting over a shared meal. Each participant will receive a parting gift before leaving.

About Feed the Soul YEG

Feed the Soul YEG is a year-round initiative dedicated to elevating, strengthening and celebrating the diversity of Edmonton's ethnocultural food establishments.

This grassroots organization was created by a volunteer-led and driven team dedicated to promoting and offering safe spaces for local Black-, Indigenous- and racialized-owned businesses to expand their presence in the city. This is done through year-round programming including our Black Futures Month Dining Week, Ten Dolla Deals affordable meals, food tours, pop-ups and catering.

TH.I.N.K Meetups are a community-focused initiative, particularly for Black professionals, aiming to foster connections, encourage personal and professional growth, and create a supportive space for members.
