About the New Ways to Score to Picture Course

Sharpen Your Film Scoring Skills

Looking to elevate your composition skills for film scoring? "New Ways to Score to Picture" offers a deep dive into harmonic concepts tailored for visual media.

What to Expect:

Each week, I’ll introduce and explain different harmonic styles.
I’ll provide video clips for you to score using a notation program or DAW.
Each style comes with recommended instrumentation.
Choose one of the featured styles with its specific instrumentation.
I’ll give you personalized, detailed feedback on your work.
All classes will be recorded for those who are unable to attend live.
In the fifth class, participants will present a clip of their choice.

Course Schedule:

Saturdays (Bi- weekly)

Pacific Time: 10:00 - 11:30 AM
Atlantic Time: 2:00 - 3:30 PM
London Time: 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Introduction and Modal Writing – September 6th
Neo-Riemannian Transformation, Quartal Harmony and Octatonic Scales – September 20th
Whole Tone Scales, Aleatoric writing and Pantriadicism – October 4th
Regional 12 Tone and Minimalism – October 18th
Review Class-Participants play a clip in class – October 25th
