Join us for The Beehive Community Dinner: Fall Flavours on Saturday, November 7 — an evening of good food, shared tables, and easy conversation with neighbours from White Rock and Surrey.

Everyone is welcome — whether you come with friends, family, or on your own.

Please note: Ticket sales close at the end of the day on Thursday, November 5, so our volunteers can purchase ingredients and begin preparing the meal.

What’s for dinner

We’ll be serving a homemade, family-style meal at shared tables:

Vegetarian corn chowder
Bacon, served separately as an optional topping
Roasted fall vegetable salad
Homemade biscuits with herb compound butter
Pumpkin pie bars
Warm spiced apple cider and sodas available for purchase ($2 each, please bring cash)
Complimentary water, tea, and coffee

Food notes

Common ingredients in this meal include wheat, dairy and eggs. While we aren’t able to make individual menu changes, the bacon will be served separately so guests can choose whether to add it to their meal.

Entertainment and conversation

We’re still arranging an activity/entertainment for the evening and will share details once it’s confirmed. There will be plenty of time for conversation around the tables, and participation in any activity will be optional.

What to expect

Guests are seated at shared tables and enjoy a homemade meal together, creating plenty of opportunities for easy conversation.

If you’re attending with a small group of friends or family, please purchase your tickets together in the same order so we can seat you at the same table.

Grants helped support our earlier dinners, and that funding has now been used. We’ve raised ticket prices slightly to help the Beehive continue while keeping a lower-priced option available. Meals are made from scratch by volunteers. Please choose one ticket type for each guest at checkout:

Standard ticket — $12: Admission to the dinner at an accessible price
Beehive Supporter ticket — $15: The same dinner, with an extra $3 toward the cost of preparing and hosting it

Both tickets include the same meal and seat. The Supporter ticket is simply an option for guests who can contribute a little more.

The actual cost of preparing and hosting each meal is closer to $20. Keeping the standard ticket below that cost helps make the dinner accessible, while Supporter tickets and community donations help cover some of the difference.

If you are able, you’re welcome to add an optional donation at checkout. A contribution toward the full cost of a meal — or any amount that feels right — helps keep tickets affordable, welcome more neighbours, and make future dinners possible.

Donations are completely optional. Tickets and donations are not eligible for tax receipts.

Accessibility & inclusion

The dinner will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in South Surrey. The building is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of parking.

Although the dinners take place in a church hall, The Beehive Community Dinners are not a religious initiative and are open to people of all beliefs and backgrounds.

We aim to create an inclusive, respectful space where people of all ages, backgrounds and identities feel comfortable and welcome. These dinners are especially welcoming for people who are new to the neighbourhood, live on their own, or are simply looking to meet a few neighbours — but truly, everyone is welcome.

Come as you are, meet a few neighbours, and enjoy a slower, more connected evening.

The Beehive

The Beehive Community Dinners are relaxed, neighbourhood-focused meals designed to help people in White Rock and Surrey connect in a simple, welcoming way. After our spring pilot and September dinner, we’re glad to gather again this fall.
