Join us for a hands-on conservation and learning experience in the TRU Upper Grasslands! This event focuses on removing Spotted Knapweed (Centaurea stoebe), an invasive species that threatens native grassland ecosystems.

Participants will actively contribute to managing invasive species on campus while gaining practical knowledge about:

Identifying spotted knapweed
Understanding its ecological impacts
Learning safe and effective removal methods
Exploring the importance of native grassland ecosystems

In addition to fieldwork, short micro-learning sessions from guest speakers will provide valuable insights into invasive species management, grassland ecology, and community-based conservation. This is a great opportunity to make a tangible impact, build field skills, and connect with others interested in environmental stewardship.

Food Provided: Lunch and snacks will be available for all participants.

Important Safety Information:

Tick season will be active. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and socks. Light-colored clothing is recommended for easy tick detection.
Check yourself periodically during the event and thoroughly afterward.
Spotted knapweed may cause skin irritation. Wear gloves and avoid direct contact.
Limited extra gloves might be available.
